Studying abroad: broaden your horizon as a Tilburg University student

Examination Board TSB: Study Abroad

When you opt for studying abroad it will be necessary to get approval for all courses you will take abroad. You have to apply for approval to the Examination Board of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Before exchange

On Study Abroad Study Plan - Social and Behavioral Sciences you will find information on how you can incorporate a Study Abroad experience in your program. Please, read the information on this web page carefully before requesting course approvals.

All courses you will take abroad will need to be approved by the Examination Board of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences:

  1. Applying for optional courses abroad (form)
All courses you will take abroad will need to be approved by the Examination Board of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Use this form to apply for minor courses, electives courses and for on top of courses. Do not forget to include the course descriptions of each course (incl. course level and amount of credits). You also need to make sure that the courses do not overlap with your (mandatory) program at TSB. Please note: you may apply for approval for a maximum of 40 ECTS of courses.

  2. Applying to substitute a TSB course with a course abroad (form)
Use this form to apply for substitute courses.

  3. Distance examination
Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences believes it is important for students to study abroad for a semester without falling behind. With regard to taking exams remotely, you are referred to article 5.7 of the Education and Examination Regulations Bachelor 2021-2022 (EER). The EER specifies the rules regarding the remote exam (distance exam).

In accordance with these rules, there must first be a specific reason to be eligible for such a facility. This includes special circumstances and/or overlap in the study schedule due to regular education obligations at Tilburg University and the exchange destination.

Also, all previous regular exam opportunities for the course in question must have been taken, except in special circumstances. In addition, the exam at the host institution should take place simultaneously with the exam at Tilburg University and the host institution should support the decision and facilitate the exam. It is possible to submit a request for this through the Examination Board. The Examination Board decides whether to grant the request. A course that has already been completed is not eligible for a distance exam.
