Students Tilburg University

Step 1: check your eligibility

Before you can apply for your exchange, you need to check your eligibility. You can apply for an exchange if:

  1. Your study plan allows you to go on exchange for one semester.
  2. You meet the application requirements.

Does my study plan allow me to go on exchange for one semester?

Most bachelor programs at Tilburg University have the flexibility to go on exchange without experiencing a study delay. Some programs have a mobility window of one semester, which is dedicated to either following electives or minor courses abroad. Other programs have special arrangements whereby students can be flexible with their courses, moving them to another semester or substituting courses by courses at one of our partner universities.

In any case, it is of utmost importance that you check with your academic advisor or program coordinator when you can go on exchange in your study program with or without study delay. Students are able to to go on exchange once in their Bachelor’s program and once in their Master’s program.

When do I meet the application requirements?

Before you are allowed to apply for an exchange, you will need to have obtained a certain amount of ECTS. Please note that first year students cannot apply for an exchange.

Special circumstances?

If you have any special circumstances that have prevented you from obtaining the minimum number of ECTS, you may still apply, as long as your case is known to the Student Dean. When we receive your application, we will consult with the Student Dean and ask them to advise us if an exchange is advisable in your individual situation. Only if we receive a positive confirmation, will we be able assess your application. If nothing has been reported to the Student Dean or if we receive a negative response on your application, then we unfortunately cannot take your application into consideration.
