Examination Board Law

The Examination Board is responsible for the organization and quality of examinations.

In addition, its tasks involve:

  1. dealing with requests for exemption
  2. dealing with requests for an extra opportunity to take an interim examination (article 15.4 bachelor EER / article 4.15 master EER)
  3. dealing with requests for special facilities during interim examinations
  4. dealing with other requests by students regarding their program of studies
  5. dealing with applications for admission to the Master’s program
  6. dealing with applications to participate in interim examinations of the second year
  7. dealing with applications for permission to write a Bachelor or Master’s thesis
  8. dealing with applications for admission to the pre-Master’s programs
  9. awarding an academic distinction (judicium)
  10. combating academic fraud and taking disciplinary action (more information)

The duties and responsibilities of the Examining Board are set out in the Higher Education and Research Act (Wet op het Hoger onderwijs en Wetenschappelijk onderzoek) and in the Law School’s Education and Examination Regulations (EERs) and the Rules and Regulations of Tilburg Law School’s Examination Board.

The Examination Board has delegated a number of duties to others. For instance, it appoints examiners to administer interim examinations and to determine the marks.
