Help with searching

A well-written academic text heavily depends on the usage of qualified sources and background literature, accurately integrated quotes and paraphrases within the text and correct referencing. The Scriptorium's information specialists will be able to help you with this.
The information specialists are specialized in searching for literature in specific fields. They will help you set up a search strategy, provide you with tips for determining search items, and help you collect your bibliography according to the reference style appointed by your faculty/teacher. They will also be able to help you assess the reliability of scientific information.

You can ask your question via the online form or visit the library.

With what can the information specialists help me?

  • Setting up a search strategy
  • Helping you continue when you cannot find enough literature about your subject
  • Determining whether you have found all the relevant literature in your field
  • Judging whether the literature you have found is reliable.
  • Questions about citations and references.

How does the support from the Information Specialists work?

  • You can fill in the online question form. You will receive an answer by e-mail or the Information Specialist will contact you to make an appointment.
  • You can also visit the library and ask the information desk to refer you to an Information Specialist.
  • Before visiting the library, or filling in the form, you should have already set up your research strategy and you should have started the search process.
  • You can tell the Information Specialist which databases you already visited, and which search terms you used, and where you got stuck.

Together you will evaluate the strategy and the results. The Information Specialist will give you advice and guidelines in order to be able to move on.

Not a search service

The Scriptorium's Information Specialists will not search literature for you. They will help you with selecting qualified information sources and give you advice on how to use these. For practical information concerning searching and using the library's sources, the LIS Service Desk is the first point of contact. If you have questions about finding literature, first check the Frequently Asked Questions section about help with searching.
