Bio

After receiving a Bachelors degree in Theology and Religious Studies in Utrecht University (cum laude), I finished the Research Master in Theology at Tilburg University (cum laude), following courses at Leiden University, VU University Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam. I am currently employed as a PhD Researcher in the NWO funded project 'Parables and the Partings of the Ways' focussing on banquets as metaphors in early Jewish and Christian parables. In my dissertation I hope to answer the question how parables about banquets function as metaphorical narratives in the different literary sources of early Judaism and Christianity as part of the ancient Mediterranean world. Based on my research I have become involved in several research projects on the meaning of food and (communal) eating in Judaism and Christianity up to the present. Next to my research, I have been teaching on Biblical Studies in a variety of contexts, including higher education.
