Simone van de Wetering works as a PhD-student at Tilburg Center for Regional Law and Governance, researching local and inclusive policy making in urban spaces of marginalization. Her main question is how identity making and place making practices are or can be part of (alternative) local structures of governance.
Simone graduated cum laude from the Research Master Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam with an ethnographic field study on youth identity and stigmatization in the French banlieues. After that, she worked for two years at the Amsterdam based think tank Kennisland on inclusive policy making and 'social labs'. Throughout her studies and work she has specialized in identity and inequality issues and qualitative research methods.
