Amazing summer achievements by excelling Tilburg University athletes

Published: 01st September 2023 Last updated: 05th September 2023

A number of our students and employees have dual careers in the field of elite sports. In addition to their work or studies, they accomplished great achievements this summer.

Tilburg University provides facilities to students who want to combine their dual careers. Among others the university offers additional student supervision and in some cases financial assistance. This gives them the opportunity to focus on and grow in their sport in combination with their academic career.

We share their achievements with great pride:

  • Student and Taekwondoka Aymen Achnine competed at the Universiade.
  • Student Paulina Tomaszewska became Polish national champion in athletics 3K & 5K.
  • Student Dane Cvetkovic became Serbian national champion Golf.
  • Alumna Cindy van der Zanden and Employee Ferenc Jongejan finished 2nd in softball group stage during the World Cup. They qualified for the 2024 softball Finals.
  • Student Freeke Moes & Alumna Laura Nunnink became European field hockey champions. They qualified for the Olympic Games.
