Language and Preparatory Program
Have you just recently moved to the Netherlands and do you want to study at a university of applied sciences or university? Or would you like to study in the Netherlands but do you also need to integrate? Then the Language and Preparatory Program is the best way to learn Dutch and prepare for your studies.
Language and Preparatory Program or Academic Pre-Bachelor’s Program?

What is the Language and Preparatory Program?
Together with the Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Tilburg University offers the Language and Preparatory Program for higher education for people integrating from almost all municipalities in North Brabant and North Limburg. In the Language and Preparatory Program you learn Dutch, follow courses to become eligible for a study program, and prepare for a study program at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences.
- The Language and Preparatory Program at the Tilburg University Language Center consists of three steps: NT2 Beginners, NT2 Intermediate, and the Pre-Bachelor’s Program. You can also take the Pre-Bachelor’s Program at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences.
- The Language and Preparatory Program takes 1.5 to 2 years, of which about six months for the NT2 courses and one year for the Pre-Bachelor’s Program—depending on when you enter. In fact, the Pre-Bachelor’s Program always starts at the end of August.
- Upon completion of the Language and Preparatory Program, you will have obtained your official civic integration diploma and will be able to start studying at a university of applied sciences or a university.
- In 2022-2023, the Language and Preparatory Program starts on Monday, 28 August 2023 (enroll by 18 November), Friday, 8 December 2023 (enroll by 29 November) and Wednesday, 3 April 2024 (enroll by 25 March).
Tilburg University's Language and Preparatory Program is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

- The municipality where you live enrolls you for the Language and Preparatory Program.
- So make your interest known to your contact person at the municipality.
- After your application, we will invite you for an intake test and interview.

Content Language and Preparatory Program
The Language and Preparatory Program takes one and a half to two years. Upon completion of the Language and Preparatory Program, you can start a study program at a university of applied sciences or a university.

After the Language and Preparatory Program
If you successfully complete the Language and Preparatory Program, you will receive the civic integration diploma from the Dutch government and a pre-Bachelor's certificate from Tilburg University. After that you can start a study program at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences. You can directly enter a Bachelor's program at Tilburg University.
