Bio

Ik ben universitair hoofddocent aan de afdeling Sociale Psychologie van Tilburg University, Research Fellow bij Babylon, het Centrum voor de Studie van de Multiculturele Samenleving van Tilburg University, en honorair hoogleraar aan de School voor Psychologie van Gratia Christian College, Hong Kong, China.

In mijn werk bestudeer ik cultuur, in het bijzonder acculturatie, acculturatie van internationale studenten, bedreiging, intergroepsgedrag en identiteit. Ik ben gepassioneerd over het onderwijzen en integreren van cultuur in het psychologiecurriculum en geef om de methodologische geschiktheid van onze studies en hulpmiddelen (onderwerpen waarover ik regelmatig workshops en zomercursussen geef). 

Samen met Byron Adams en vele geweldige medewerkers heb ik onlangs het tekstboek Methods and Assessment in Culture and Psychology (Cambridge) geredigeerd.

Ik ben redacteur van het Open Access Journal Online Readings in Psychology and Culture, en actief lid van de International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP), de International Academy for Intercultural Research (IAIR), en bestuurslid van de Centrale Commissie Culturele Diversiteit en Psychologie van het Nederlands Instituut voor Psychologen (NIP). Ik ben ook lid van de permanente beoordelingsraad van de RGC Hong Kong.

Ik heb financiering ontvangen van de Europese Unie (Marie Curie Fellowship, Erasmus+ KA2), NWO (Comenius Teaching Fellowship), de Duitse DAAD, de Jacobs Stichting en Tilburg University (voor lopende projecten, zie Impact).
