Education in the DAF Technology Lab
The educational opportunities in virtual reality are endless. With two CAVE systems to our availability some 12-16 students at a time can participate simultaneously in immersive worlds ranging from neuroscience, blockchains, data science, professional education and a variety of other topics
The DAF Technology Lab has hosted a number of classes. These included professional education class in which groups of leaders played an immersive serious game to discover their leadership activities. Findings of this educational experience have been reported in conference proceedings articles.
A brain game was used to teach students neuroscience. Not only did research show that students enjoyed learning in a collaborative virtual environment more, but their learning gains were also higher than in traditional forms of education. In another series of classes students learned the position of MRI images in the brain.
To me this is what the future of education would look like.
