Finding an internship
There are various ways to find an internship, networking is one of the most successful. You can use your own network or, for example, approach lecturers. Various lecturers, in addition to their position at the university, also work in the business sector or for a non-profit organization. You can also network at career events and online via LinkedIn. For example, via the Tilburg University LinkedIn page you can easily search for alumni and add interesting profiles to your network. More tips on this subject?

Internship agreements
Internship as part of curriculum
If you want to do an internship as part of your curriculum (so for ECTs), you need to arrange the internship in agreement with your study program. Contact your internship coordinator to get more information.
Internship outside of the curriculum
The university does not sign an internship agreement with the company/student. If you are an EU student and your company requires a formal statement by the university, you can ask the Career Services Officer of your School to draw up an EU student internship statement. This is not an agreement/contract but a document that states that you are a student at Tilburg University. Doing an internship outside of the curriculum in most cases causes a study delay which in turn causes an extra semester of paying tuition fee.
Non-EU/EEA student
If you are a non-EU/EEA student who wants to do an internship in the Netherlands outside the curriculum, you will need a signed Nuffic Agreement. Check with your Career Services Officer what the procedure is within your School.
Also important
- For most internships, you need to be enrolled as a student. This means you will continue paying tuition fees even if you are not on campus.
- Some companies insist on a so-called ‘confidentiality agreement' or ‘working clause' before they allow you to carry out your research. We do not intervene in such instances: these agreements are made between the company and the student.
