Increasing spatial efficiency
Our goal is to utilize existing real estate in a smarter and more efficient way, with the possible positive effect of being able to dispose of certain buildings.
In recent years, Tilburg University has grown by constructing new buildings of its own and by renting others. At the same time, we are also seeing a change in the use of real estate on campus. Blended learning and hybrid working mean that we do not need to be on campus as much. This creates opportunities to increase the effective use of space inside our buildings still further and to create awareness around the increasing need to share space, to use it appropriately (for the size of the target group) and to monitor and adjust occupancy and utilization. We will achieve the greatest energy savings if we no longer need some buildings and remove those from our building stock, and by using new-build efficiently.
