Tilburg University Topics
As a social sciences and humanities university, Tilburg University works towards a green, just and prosperous society for all. We tackle complex issues from different disciplines and in collaboration with societal partners, with a special focus on labor market and talent development, healthcare and wellbeing, climate and energy transition and digitalization.
Climate change, increasing social inequality and tensions in society make it crucial to speed up the process of making the economy and society more sustainable. By looking from the perspective of broad prosperity, we are trying to find solutions that leave no one behind.
In the Broad Prosperity Program, we work with social partners on the opportunities and challenges of the pension system, the healthcare system, the labor market, energy transition, poverty and digitalization of society, among others. But these themes are also being worked on elsewhere in the university: they are in our DNA. An overview with news and stories can be found in the dossiers below.
Digitalization is a driver of innovation and creates opportunities as well as challenges for society and science. As a university with unique expertise on the interfaces of technology and ethics, economics, law, psychology and sociology, Tilburg University strives to make digitalization work for both society as a whole and for individual people.
Labor market and talent development
A labor market that provides valuable work for all is essential for broad prosperity. But how do we organize that with a structural shortage in the aging labor market? How do we enable people as much as possible to use their talents?
Climate and energy
To slow down climate change and accelerate the transition to renewable energy, much remains to be done. New technologies offer solutions, but we cannot do without changes at the administrative, legal, financial and economic, psychological and especially social level, leaving no one behind.
Healthcare and wellbeing
Good mental and physical health for all is a necessary condition for broad prosperity. Conversely, major societal challenges affect our health and well-being. How do we keep healthcare affordable, sustainable and accessible for everyone? What technological and other innovations can help?
