Values, identity and wellbeing

In our Weaving Minds & Characters: Strategy towards 2027, we introduced the core values of caring, courageous, connected, and curious. They not only form the compass in our decision-making but also inspire and provide standards for the responsible, character-driven people we train and that we aspire to be ourselves. In line with our values, we work to foster a safe and inclusive working and studying environment and the wellbeing of students and colleagues. During the period covered by this strategy, these two themes will be the focus.

Tilburg University is anchored in four values: Connected, Curious, Caring, and Courageous. These values mesh with the zeitgeist, Henk Witte believes, and it is being Courageous that truly captures the imagination. “I heard things like ‘Hey, that’s new. We’re so used to being careful.’”

Core values / "The four C's"

In achieving our mission, we work on the basis of a number of core values (also known as "the four Cs"). These are informed by our university's open Catholic signature and traditions and by continuing to engage in the mutual conversation about our goals and what we want to stand for as a university.
