Chairs

The Academic Collaborative Center Care for older adults houses two chairs.

  • Prof. Katrien Luijkx has been appointed to the chair 'People-centred older adults care and societal impact'. With her chair, prof. Luijkx will contribute to the transition of care for older adults and further development of the fourth-generation university, in which innovation is achieved through co-creation with various stakeholders. By studying topics that are important in the daily lives of older people receiving long-term care, while focusing on the perspective of older people themselves, this chair contributes to the knowledge base on people-centred care. It also studies the process of social impact. This runs from the discovery of relevant research questions to the sustainable use of developed knowledge aimed at improving care.
  • Prof. Robbert Gobbens has been appointed to the endowed chair 'Professionalisation of nursing and care for older adults'. The chair contributes to, on the one hand, gaining insight into how the professionalisation of nursing and care for older adults are can be further developed to improve the quality of life of the older adults. On the other hand, it examines the opportunities and possibilities for carers, nurses and care organisations to keep work attractive and accessible now and in the future.
