Irmgard Borghouts new Crown-appointed member of the SER
05th April 2024Irmgard Borghouts, Endowed Professor of HRM & Social Security at Tilburg University, has been appointed as a new member of the Dutch Social and Economic Council (SER). The Dutch Cabinet has approved her appointment today. In her capacity as a Crown-appointed member, Professor Borghouts will advise the government in the field of employment security, labor market policy, and social security, including HRM and Lifelong Development. Professor Borghouts has been appointed for the period of April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026.

Three Tilburg University Professors Crown-Appointed Members of the SER
28th March 2024The Dutch Cabinet has appointed Irmgard Borghouts (TSB), Bastiaan Starink (TLS), and Mijntje Lückerath-Rovers (TIAS) as new members of the Social and Economic Council (SER). They will advise the government on the domains of entrepreneurship, decent work, sustainable growth, an inclusive society, a fair distribution of income, and broad prosperity. The new members have been appointed for the period of April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026.

28th March 2024Marjon van der Maat has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB), effective June 1. She succeeds Wietske van Zwol, who will retire on July 1.

Katrijn Van Deun awarded prestigious NWO Vici grant to develop new data science methods
29th February 2024Professor Dr. Katrijn Van Deun, professor of ‘Data Science for the Social and Behavioral Sciences’ at Tilburg University, has been awarded a Vici grant of 1.5 million euros from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). With this subsidy, she aims to develop research methods that can contribute to complex developments in the field of data within our society. Katrijn Van Deun joins the ranks of 35 scientists across the Netherlands who will be receiving a Vici grant today.

Inaugural Lecture by Tine Buyl: Behavior of CEOs and strategic leaders of great influence on organizational resilience

PhD research: Self-interest, social marginalization and weak spots liberal institutions contribute to support for populist parties
22nd November 2023Over the past two decades, European democracies have witnessed the rise of populist parties. New PhD research by Dr. Francesco Marolla (Tilburg University) provides insight into the explanation for support of European citizens for populist parties. “Populist parties receive significant support from citizens who feel socially marginalized, especially in more affluent and globalized societies. Citizens' self-interest and the weak spots of liberal institutions also appear to be important factors in explaining support for populism.”
