FAQ Training Digital Safety at Work

Before you ask your question, read the frequently asked questions about the Digital Safety training.

Can I open Canvas in any browser?

Canvas works in any browser. However, we recommend using Google Chrome as it is least likely to malfunction.

Are there hidden tricks or other ways to "fool" you in the training, such as phishing?

No, all links and other references in the Canvas-training are legitimate and can be trusted. If you do have any questions about this, please contact the administrators (teachers) of the training.

How long will it take for my results to be processed in my personnel file?

The result of your training will be registered in your personnel file. This means that both a positive result (training successfully completed) and a negative result (training not successfully completed) will be registered. Because you have three months to complete the training, the result will only be registered and visible to you and your supervisor after the quarter in which you can complete the training. If you do not see a result in My Employee Portal and you think you should, please contact the instructors of the training.

Can I pause the training and continue later?

Yes, you can start, pause and resume your training at any time during the quarter in which you were added to the course. Note, however, that you must have completed the training with a positive result within three months. Not able to do so? Then you will be re-enrolled in the training for the next quarter, and you will lose your progress. 

I did not receive an email from Canvas to register for the training?

It is possible that the email ended up in your spam folder. So please check your spam folder first. If you do see the training in Canvas, then your registration was successful. Can't you log in to Canvas or don't you see the training in Canvas and do you think you should have (for example because your immediate colleagues have received an email)? Please let the course instructors know. 

I would like to receive reminders about the training course from Canvas

In Canvas you can choose which notifications you receive and whether you see them only in Canvas or also receive them via email. We recommend that you turn on a number of notifications, namely; due date and announcement. You can change your settings for notifications by making changes in Canvas under 'Account' 'Notifications'. 

Is it true that I am registered for the course as a "Student" instead of an "Employee"?

Yes that' s correct. Canvas knows two roles: teacher and student. If you are registered for the training, you are registered as a student. Student in this case has nothing to do with your appointment, but only with the role you have been given in Canvas for this training.
The teachers for this training are Max de Bruin, Miranda van der Ploeg-Cools and Tessel Stoppelenburg. You can also send messages directly to them via the link in Canvas.

Is it correct that the email with the registration from Canvas comes from Tilburg University Canvas with the email address notifications@instructure.com?

Yes that' s correct. Unfortunately, just from the email address, you can't tell that this email was sent from our own Canvas environment. Nevertheless, we can hereby ensure you that the mail can be trusted if the sender is 'Tilburg University Canvas' and the mail originates from this email address.
