Early diagnosis of a recurrent tumor (recurrence) in pancreatic cancer is crucial. However, it is difficult to distinguish scars resulting from surgery from a recurrence. With input from medical specialists at UMC Utrecht, Ralf from Datacation developed an algorithm. Using self-supervised learning, they trained a U-net that can segment pancreatic cancer based on the pixels of a CT scan. The algorithm supports doctors in diagnosing tumors earlier and better. "We are proud to contribute to innovation within healthcare with our algorithm".
