Enactus Tilburg reaches 3rd place in The Enactus Netherlands National Exposition 2023
On June 9, The Enactus Netherlands National Exposition 2023 was held at the Mediaplaza Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Enactus Tilburg reached 3rd place during the Finals with their project Hobbee. In addition, Hobbee, won a separate award: the Innovation Award for the most innovative project in the Netherlands.
The Contest
The Enactus Netherlands National Exposition is a team-based competition that brings together student, academic, and business leaders to celebrate the achievements of student teams that have developed social entrepreneurship projects. Enactus teams from all over the Netherlands presented their collective impact during the competition rather than individual projects separately. Each local team had the autonomy to decide which and how many of their projects would be represented in their presentation. Presentations during the competition were 7 minutes long, followed by a 5-minute question and answer session. The presentations focused on the team's achievements between September 1st, 2022, and August 31st, 2023.
Hobbee
Over the past year, Enactus Tilburg members Giancarlo Corti, Avni Singh, Leonardo Martinez, Carol Kunde, and Beatriz Reis Carvalho worked together on their startup Hobbee. Hobbee is an alternative learning service that connects students with NGOs and other institutions to teach a variety of creative hobbies. Hobbee is specially created for students, who do not have access or resources to learn unique leisure activities. Hobbee aims to bridge the social gap that exists between less fortunate students and society by connecting organizations and teachers to these students. The work that the team put into their startup paid off: despite fierce competition from other prominent teams, Enactus Tilburg secured 3rd place with Hobbee and was granted the Innovation Award. Moreover, Enactus Tilburg was awarded 150 euros in funding by Enactus Netherlands, further validating the team's performance and dedication. “By being a finalist, we not only were able to present the hard work Enactus Tilburg has been putting in but also got the opportunity to feel proud; proud over the fact that we were creating something meaningful. Being able to present in front of the 25 judges and the whole Enactus community was a way of saying that our efforts were going into something bigger than us” says Giancarlo Corti, who is Chairman at Enactus Tilburg and part of the Hobbee team.
