The theme of our 96th Dies Natalis is ‘Experiencing Broad Prosperity’. Our society is facing a number of profound social challenges. As a university, we want to contribute by means of research to solutions to achieving broad prosperity for everyone, for the immediate as well as the more distant future. How do we ensure that we work, in a smart as well as social way, to realize a society that is inclusive and sustainable for current and future generations? How do we take care of the wellbeing of earth’s inhabitants without transgressing our planet’s biophysical boundaries? Through its Aacademic Collaborative Centers, Tilburg University deploys its expertise to contribute in a practical way to broad prosperity in co-creation and also with social partners, here and now, and for future generations. Honorary doctorate for Professor Dineke de Groot
Professor Dineke de Groot, President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands and extraordinary Professor of Jurisprudence and Conflict Resolution at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, will receive an honorary doctorate during Tilburg University’s Dies Natalis. The honorary supervisors, Professor Stéphanie van Gulijk and Professor Reinout Wibier of Tilburg Law School will present the honorary doctorate to Professor De Groot for her outstanding social merits and academic achievements, fostering the connection between the judiciary and society. Tilburg University is proud to award this honorary doctorate to Professor De Groot.
Welcome to drs. Wilma de Koning
The Executive Board is pleased to officially welcome Wilma de Koning as a Board member during the Dies Natalis celebration. As of November 15, 2023, she is the new Vice-President of the Tilburg University Executive Board. Working in higher education and research and at related organizations are a common thread in her long career.
