Anke Liefbroer was named Tilburg University's Teach of the Year 2023 during the Opening of the Academic Year. Anke teaches the courses Sociology & Psychology of Religion, and Pastoral Care & Psychopathology at our theological faculty (TST).

The jury: "Anke is new to teaching and is already making such an impact. She is actively establishing a new master's within TST where students learn to become 'Spiritual Caregivers'. Student development is very important to her. She makes sure the needs of her students are met and adjusts her teaching to events which are socially relevant. Her lectures are a perfect balance between research findings and experiences from the field”.

In collaboration with student party SAM, we annually organize a Tilburg University Teacher of the Year election. This to continue to promote the quality of education and recognize the hard work of teachers. This year's election took place from June 12-16.

Half of the score consists of the opinions of a jury; the other half is made up of student votes. The teacher who emerges as the winner will be presented with a prize to the amount of €4000,-. This reward is part of the Recognition & Rewards program, that focuses on valuing not only research achievements but also other talents of our academic staff, for instance, excellence in teaching. In addition, the winner will be nominated for the National Teacher of the Year election, organized by Dutch National Students’ Association ISO.
