PhD webinar

On Tuesday July 5, from 11:00-12:15, Student Career Services organizes a webinar about PhD for all students of Tilburg University. If you are thinking about doing a PhD and starting a career as a researcher, this webinar is very interesting for you.

The first half hour will be a general session where Academic transfer will provide you with more information about, among other things:

  • What is a PhD? (definition, core activities and salary indication)
  • Why doing a PhD in NL? (Dutch specifics and info about world ranking)
  • Where to find PhD positions?
  • How to prepare for a PhD? (CV & personal pitch tips)
  • Career perspective (transferable skills & career tools for after the PhD)

In de second part of the webinar we will split up in groups per school where you get specific information obout the process of becoming a PhD'er within your school, amongst other things:

  • How do you find out if a PhD is something for you?
  • What are the selection criteria and how does an ideal CV look like for your school?
  • What does the application process look like within your school?
  • Tips and tricks that help you get through the selection process
  • What does the supervision of PhD students look like for your school?

During this part of the webinar a current PhD'er will also join the session to share his/ her experience and answer your question.
