Institutes and Departments

Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences has a diversity of institutes and departments.

  • CoRPS
The mission of the research within Center of Research on Psychological and Somatic disorders is to contribute to disease management care for patients with chronic medical conditions.
  • Herbert Simon Research Institute (HSRI)
There is an increasing need for studying complex societal problems in a more integral way, for which we need expertise which crosses the boundaries of a specific department. In order to stimulate and facilitate cooperation between the departments within our School, we have established the Herbert Simon Research Institute (HSRI) for ‘Health, well-being and adaptiveness’. The aim of HSRI is twofold: Facilitating the existing research programs of all nine departments and stengthening the research profile of TSB.
  • EVS
The European Values Study is a large-scale, cross-national, and longitudinal survey research program on basic human values. It provides insights into the ideas, beliefs, preferences, attitudes, values and opinions of citizens all over Europe. It is a unique research project on how Europeans think about life, family, work, religion, politics and society.
  • TESC
We increasingly use smartphones and wearables in research into health, wellbeing and adaptiveness, among others by using the Experience Sampling Method. By assessing how people feel, behave, and act in everyday life, Experience Sampling collects longitudinal intensive data of individuals. This opens up possibilities to study each individual as a unique person, and to tailor future interventions to the person’s own needs. Part of HSRI, is the Tilburg Experience Sampling Center (TESC). TESC is a center of expertise with respect to Experience Sampling Methods (ESM) research and facilitates collaboration between researchers from various disciplines.
  • Tiber
Tiber is the Tilburg Institute for Behavioral Economics Research. Tiber is a research institute devoted to studying the psychological processes underlying individual choice and economic decision making from an interdisciplinary perspective. It is a joint institute with Tilburg School of Economics and Management.
  • Tranzo
Tranzo is a scientific center for transformations in health and wellbeing. The mission is to build a bridge between science and practice on the field of health care, welfare and housing.
