Tilburg Career Days: Lieke and Sanne Fleur share their experiences

Published: 13th October 2022 Last updated: 13th October 2022

The Tilburg Career Days are almost upon us again. In the week of November 14, an impressive 75 companies will come to campus. Lieke and Sanne Fleur relate how they experienced last year’s edition.

Lieke

Lieke visited the 2021 edition of the Tilburg Career Days, and she had been doing an internship at Unilever since February of this year. "My internship was about five months in all (until the beginning of July) for four days a week.”

What is your position as an intern? Or do you have a permanent job?

I am a Customer Facing Specialist (CFS) in Unilever’s Customer Excellence Team. CFSs work at the Customer Service department of the Supply Chain division. As a CFS, I am the point of contact for customers and the Operations Excellence hub for solving problems in the Order-to-Cash process (orders, deliveries, returns, claims, overdues, etc.). These customers are in retail (supermarkets and drugstores), out of home (petrol, schools, on the go, etc.), and food solutions (hospitality).

How did you connect with the company?

In 2021 I was a PA at Unilever. My job was to assist staff at the presentation and the job fair. I spoke with them at length and the positive impression they made encouraged me to apply for this internship. And they hired me.

How do you currently experience your internship/job?

So far it’s been really good. I was looking to gain experience at a company to help me decide which Masters program I wanted to do. The Tilburg Career Days are a good way to discover and compare companies and to spot companies of preference. I’m very happy at Unilever and I warmly recommend corporate internships as an excellent opportunity to gain work experience.

Sanne Fleur

Sanne Fleur is a Master’s student of Information Management and also visited last year’s edition of the Tilburg Career Days. She is currently writing her thesis at KPMG. "I started here on February 15, 2022."

What is your position as an intern? Or do you have a permanent job?

KPMG have hired me as a thesis intern; they assist me in writing my thesis and they benefit from the research I do. In addition to writing my thesis, I also work on internal project one or two days a week.

How did you connect with the company?

At the Tilburg Career Days I had a meeting with a KPMG recruiter, and I also contacted some people whom I know work at KPMG to ask about their experiences. I then applied for the thesis internship and soon after an assessment and two pleasant interviews I started.

How do you currently experience your internship/job?

It’s really fun to get a glimpse of working life. It’s also really nice to be writing my thesis in a practical environment and to learn so much about how things work in practice. And a thesis internship is very useful to find out whether the field of work and the company are a match – which in my case they definitely are!
