Logging on to Canvas and Osiris with Multi-Factor Authentication

Published: 15th April 2024 Last updated: 15th April 2024

Some frequently used applications like Osiris and Canvas will be secured with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) by means of the Microsoft Authenticator app. This change will go into effect for Canvas on May 14 and for Osiris in mid-August. Please make sure you have installed the Microsoft Authenticator app and linked it to your account so you will be able to log on.

Tilburg University is committed to securely protecting your data. One method of improving data security is to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) when logging into applications. Therefore, MFA will be installed for access to several Tilburg University applications.

Linking your Authenticator app to your account

If you have already worked with the Authenticator app from your Tilburg University account, you don’t need to do anything.  If you have not yet installed the Authenticator app and linked it to your account, this is the moment to do so.

Please be aware that access to Canvas is not possible without linking the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Transfer the Authenticator app to a new smartphone

Tip: If you have a new smartphone and you have still got your old smartphone, you can transfer your account in the Authenticator app yourself.

IT support

If you no longer have access to your old smartphone, please note that account reset can only be done via IT Support. IT support is available Monday - Friday from 08:30 - 17:00 hours. Please note that outside of these hours, app resets are not possible.

MFA during exams

Since mobile phones are not allowed during exams, we will make sure you will not need MFA during centrally organized exams (i.e., during the exam weeks).

More information on MFA and instructions for setting it up can be found on the Multi-Factor Authentication webpage.
