Labour mobility on the German and EU labour market

Jan Cremers contributed to a workshop on labour mobility in the EU, at the Annual Conference of the German Government's Equal Treatment Authority.

The conference took place on November 22, 2023, in Berlin under the title Kommen, um zu bleiben - EU-Arbeitskräfte auf dem deutschen Arbeitsmarkt (Coming to stay - EU workers on the German labour market). The German labour market has a high degree of mobility, while labour market shortages remain unchangingly high. Cremers addressed the development of the EU internal market, the regulatory framework governing it and the position of migrant workers who embody the free movement in Europe. In particular, he addressed the connection between working, housing and living conditions. He advocated more European cooperation between host and sending countries, in the examination of compliance and equal treatment.
