Speech Boudewijn Haverkort during Opening Academic Year 2023-2024
As Dean of the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences and Academic Lead of Tilburg University’s Digital Sciences for Society program, Boudewijn Haverkort delivered a speech during the Opening Academic Year on the theme ‘The Art of Digitalization'.
In his speech, Boudewijn reflected on both the opportunities and concerns related to the digital transition. He also reflected on Tilburg University's role in that digital transition and the research and education initiatives that reflect this:
It is important to realize that the digital transition is substantially different from the energy or protein transition. We have to work very hard on the latter two to make them happen. The digital transition, on the other hand, is already here, we are in the middle of it, and it is almost autonomous. We cannot stop it, but we can actively contribute to shape it in the best possible way.
