Nanosatelliet

Nanosatellites are very small satellites that are used for, for example, observing ship movements, deforestation or flight movements. They are relatively cheap and easily made, with simple hardware and software. A lot of things come together in such a satellite: solar energy, energy storage in batteries, temperature control. The satellite travels around the Earth in 100 minutes! How do you plan observations and sending images back to Earth? Is there always enough energy? Is there a base station nearby? And how does a whole new innovative industry develop in this regard?

Boudewijn Haverkort is the dean of the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences (TSHD), previously working as a professor in the field of cyber-physical systems.
