Enthusiastic Tilburg University Challenge winners thrive on challenge
12th August 2022What do students learn from participating in the Tilburg University Challenge? How do they dream up a business idea? What is the source of their entrepreneurship? Zoia Shakhova (30) won first prize with her Mindful Sprint in the Business Ready category. Anita Vrins (21), Jos Prinsen (21), and their team members came in first in the Ideation category with their innovative brain computer FOCUS.

Boudewijn Haverkort reappointed as Dean of Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences
20th July 2022The Executive Board has reappointed Professor Boudewijn Haverkort as Dean of the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences (TSHD) for a period of four years, effective January 1, 2023. Haverkort has been Dean since January 1, 2019.

Tilburg University invests €8 million in Widespread Prosperity
18th July 2022Current, complex developments such as the climate crisis, rising demand for care, labor market shortages, growing inequality, and digitalization require new solutions. Over the next five years, Tilburg University will release approximately 8 million euros to enable interdisciplinary collaboration and address these issues together with partners. In doing so, the university is fulfilling its task and ambition to be of social significance and contribute to greater welfare, a better labor market, and a social energy transition, all components Widespread Prosperity. The connection between science and practice is thus further reinforced in collaboration with partners from government, education, and industry.

Start construction Marga Klompé Building on Tilburg University campus
15th July 2022On July 15, 2022, the first foundation pile went into the ground for the new educational building at Tilburg University, the Marga Klompé Building. The building, with independent study places, fourteen lecture halls, and a foyer will be constructed on the site of the former parking lot between Tias building and CUBE.

13th July 2022Last Thursday, June 30, the TAISIG Event 'AI for Society' took place. The joint initiative of Tilburg University, MindLabs and Data Week NL offered Artificial Intelligence enthusiasts and researchers the chance to come together, share knowledge and network with each other. Dr. Marie Postma led this afternoon full of engaging workshops, demonstrations and presentations.

Confidence of the unvaccinated in authorities already very low before start COVID-19 vaccinations
13th July 2022Those who remain unvaccinated against COVID-19 already had significantly less confidence in government authorities before the start of the vaccination campaign than people who did get a jab. However, unvaccinated people and the unvaccinated who are still undecided do not have the same thoughts and opinions on COVID-19 and vaccinations.

Learning from winning and from losing calls
05th July 20222021 was a great year for Tilburg University in terms of securing grants, national and international research grants. The invited winners jointly accounted for over €11 million. Acquiring external grants and awards are indicators that matter in the university world. Securing (large) grants is good for the scientific prestige of the researcher concerned, the research group, and the university as a whole.

Tailored risk information helps patients with cancer

04th July 2022In his farewell speech on 8 July, Prof. Ruud Muffels argued for a coordinating ministry for inequality (including poverty reduction) so that for every policy measure in the socio-economic field, the consequences for social inequality and poverty would be mapped out.

Renewed NVAO and AACSB Accreditation for all programs of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management
04th July 2022The Dutch accreditation organization NVAO has reaccredited all programs of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM). NVAO concluded that the programs meet all requirements which are needed. These requirements are related to learning objectives, curricula of the programs, student assessments and the achievement of the learning outcomes. In addition, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, also known as AACSB International, has renewed TiSEM’s business accreditation for five years
