Health complaints (HCS)

Description: The Health Complaints Scale was developed to identify somatic and cognitive health complaints that occur frequently in patients recovering from a coronary event. The scale consists of 12 items of somatic complaints (subcomponents: fatigue, sleep, cardiopulmonary), and 12 items on cognitive complaints (Health worry, illness disruption). The HCS has been validated in patients with heart disease in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Danmark.

Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS)

Description: The Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS) assesses symptoms of chronic fatigue using a self-report scale. The scale measures fatigue as a unidimensional construct and includes items that measure mental as well as physical symptoms of fatigue. It consists of 10 items in total, of which five items relate to mental fatigue and five relate to physical fatigue.
