Software without a campus license

Do you want to install software that is not available in the Software Center? If so, this requires approval from IT Support. The purpose of this is to prevent malware or illegal software. Through the tool Admin by Request, which is automatically installed on your Tilburg University laptop and desktop, you will be asked to provide your email address and a brief motivation. After approval by IT Support, you can install the application. IT support aims for a response within one hour during office hours. We therefore recommend that you schedule installing applications during office hours. In the background, IT Support keeps track of what applications are installed on what specific laptops. These data provide insight for purposes of improving service and information security and they are stored only for this purpose.

Check the application’s privacy policy yourself. Applications from sources other than the Software Center are not supported by IT Support. It is therefore important that you yourself check the provider’s privacy policy and make sure that you have a valid license. IT Support will help with a first security check, but the ultimate responsibility to safely handle data is yours.
