Digitalization and its ramifications require more academic knowledge
18th August 2023Digitalization affects people and society and has even changed us. Collecting and processing large information files benefit society, but it also has its downsides, for instance, for security, privacy, and the climate. And yet our society is insufficiently equipped for these rapid developments. The theme of the Opening of the Academic Year in Tilburg is digitalization. Dean Boudewijn Haverkort of the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences explains what is possible thanks to digitalization, what we should be doing to control it, and what could be the university’s role.

New and improved version of Library Access
16th August 2023The (Lean) Library Access browser extension has been updated. Not only is the appearance different from the old version, the functionality has also been improved. You can personalize the settings of the extension much better to match own wishes. In addition, it is now easy to temporarily disable the extension, for example during weekends or holidays.

Veni grants for nine promising Tilburg researchers

Tilburg University achieves 79% of its Employment Target
27th July 2023One of the action lines set out in the Dutch Universities’ Employment Targets Roadmap (Werkagenda Banenafspraak Nederlandse Universiteiten) is that universities show, in a qualitative and quantitative manner, what efforts they have made to achieve the objectives of the Employment Target.
Last year, Tilburg University achieved 79% of its jobs target. This puts Tilburg University ahead of the other universities in the Netherlands.

Proposed legislation concerning internationalization of higher education and online consultation
19th July 2023After the Cabinet meeting on Friday, July 14, the online consultation for the proposed legislation concerning a more balanced and coordinated approach to internationalization in Dutch higher education (Wet internationalisering in balans) was launched. We understand that this proposed legislation may lead to additional worries and concerns among all our colleagues. Therefore we want to emphasize again that Tilburg University continues to be committed to our (international) employees and students. We are inclusive and stand up for our entire academic community. Tilburg University is analysing the proposed legislation and its ramifications for our university and will provide input for the consultation.
