Colloquium Doctum Bachelor’s programs Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM)

Within the framework of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Act (WHW), each program has laid down the admission to the examinations in its Education and Examination Regulations (EER). Students who do not possess the required diplomas and are 21 years of age or older (at the moment of formal commencement of the program, i.e. 1 September) can take an entrance examination: the Colloquium Doctum.

Don’t forget to apply for the bachelor of your choice via www.studielink.nl before the deadline (April 1 for non-EEA, May 1 for EEA).

In order to be admitted to the TiSEM Bachelor, you need to prove that your level in English (for BSc IBA, BSc E&BI and BSc Economics only) and your level in mathematics is satisfactory.

1. To prove that your English is good enough for BSc IBA/E&BI/ECO, you need to hand in one of the formal certificates below before August 1:

  • Dutch VWO diploma or partial certificate for the subject ‘English’ with at least the grade 6 or higher;
  • A TOEFL-score of 80 or higher (the TOEFL institutional code for Tilburg University is 9860);
  • IELTS-score of at least 6 (final grade) and at least 5,5 for individual parts of the exam.

TiSEM does not offer courses in English, so you will have to find a course (if you wish to), apply for an exam via the websites below, and deliver a certificate with the minimum scores before August 1 preceding the start of the program:

2. To prove that your mathematics level is good enough, you need to take the Colloquium Doctum Math Test at Tilburg University

The chapters you need to study are: 

  • Chapter 1,
  • Chapter 2, section 2.1 - 2.2,
  • Chapter 5, section 5.1

Attached are some practice assignments and answers.

The use of a graphing calculator is allowed for simple mathematical calculations (addition, multiplication, etc.).

The arguments in the elaborations may not be based on functions from the graphing calculator. So functions like "intersect" are NOT allowed in the argumentation of the solution of the problems.

Applying for the Math Test

If you would like to participate in the Colloquium Doctum exam, in order to be admitted to one of the Bachelor's programs at Tilburg School of Economics and Management, you need to apply before July 1 via the application form.

  • You will be informed about the date of the mathematics exam.
  • Keep in mind that the exam is of a fairly difficult high school level, and make sure that you studied well (or took extra lessons) before you participate!
    Information on the materials you need to study can be found above.
  • The exam has to be handed in with your answers at the end of the test and cannot be taken home.
  • There is no inspection moment for the exam.
  • The grade for the Colloquium Doctum Math Test at Tilburg University will be on a 10 point scale (1-10). A final grade of 6 or higher is a pass.
  • You get only 1 chance per calendar year to do the math test. There is no resit.
