Korean for Beginners

In this beginner's course, you will learn Hangul (Korean script), basic vocabulary, and the grammar necessary to communicate in familiar, everyday situations. All skills are covered: speaking, writing, reading, and listening.

All practice activities focus on practical and realistic situations, such as talking about yourself and your family, giving short descriptions, and asking and answering simple questions.

Cultural topics are also covered during the lessons.

By the end of the course you will have reached level A1 of the European Framework of Reference. You will then be able to:

  • read, write, and pronounce Hangul; recognize and use basic, commonly used words and expressions related to yourself, your family, and your immediate environment, when spoken slowly and clearly;
  • participate in simple conversation and/or interact with native Korean speakers at a beginning level on topics related to yourself, your family, your studies, and daily life;
