Pre-Master's programs
The program
This six-month pre-Master's program runs from the end of January until June. The pre-Master’s program is designed to help improve your knowledge and academic skills within the field of Theology, such as understanding and analysing discourses, library research, and essay writing. After successful completion, you will automatically be admitted to the one-year Master’s program in Christianity and Society, starting end of August of the next academic year.
For the academic year 2021/2022, the curriculum consists of four courses and a concluding essay (30 EC in total, 6 EC each):
- Fundamental Theology and Dogmatics (6 ECTS)
- Systematic Philosophy (6 ECTS)
- Moral Theology: Anthropological Foundations (3 ECTS)
- Philosophy: Nature and Culture (9 ECTS)
- Concluding Essay (6 ECTS)
The lectures are given in the spring semester on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
You will find a detailed description of the courses and required literature in our course catalogue.
Application and Admission
For Dutch HBO students
Dutch HBO students should always apply for the pre-Master’s program.
For Dutch WO and international students
Students with an academic Bachelor’s degree can – in most cases – directly start in the Master’s program and should apply for the Master’s program, not for the pre-Master’s program. The Admissions Committee will then decide whether you might need to take a pre-Master's program first.
Please note: programs are subject to change. We advise you to look up the current program in OSIRIS Student at the start of the year.
