Research Humanities and Digital Sciences

Research at the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences focuses on transformation processes taking place in contemporary society, related to communication and culture, and analyses the underlying moral and ethical questions.

PhD Programs

The Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences has three different types of PhD candidates:

  • Internal (employed by Tilburg University)
  • External (the link with Tilburg University is primarily through the supervisor)
  • External with scholarship

Research Programs

Once enrolled at the Graduate School for Humanities and Digital Sciences, all PhD candidates can make use of the training and educational module as well as benefit from the different facilities.

Educational / Training module

The Graduate School for Humanities and Digital Sciences offers PhD candidates a versatile education program. This program is based on the needs and interests of the PhD candidates and the demands of the Graduate School.

The program provides a framework, with a wide selection of courses from which the PhD candidate together with his/her (co-)supervisors can make a selection. The list of courses is an open and non-exhaustive selection, which means that you also have the possibility to attend courses or conferences that are not included in the list.

The courses and educational modules are divided into 3 or 4 categories:

  • General skills
  • Disciplinary courses
  • Seminars, Conferences, Symposia and international component
  • Teaching and Didactics (only for internal PhD candidates)
