Theology Closer

The Tilburg School of Catholic Theology (TST) would like to make an active contribution to the positioning of the study program in theology in the Netherlands. Because this study program is relatively unknown, especially among pupils, TST has created the project Theology. Closer than you think was created. Concretely, this means that the TST is trying to increase its visibility in secondary schools (upper-grade pre-university education (VWO/senior general secondary education (HAVO)) through a number of activities. These activities are:

Guest Lessons and Master Classes

Students in 4, 5 and 6 VWO (occasionally HAVO) have a unique opportunity to learn about theology every school year. Our lecturers are happy to provide a guest lesson or master class especially for upper-grade pupils.

If you would like to receive more information about the guest lectures and master classes in theology or to book a class directly, please contact us.

Guidance subject combination project (profielwerkstuk)

It is possible for students to get ideas for their subject combination project (in Dutch) and receive guidance while writing the subject combination project.

Studying theology?

The beauty of theology is that the study programs literally covers all areas of life. Whether it is politics, fulfillment, social issues, ethics, or religion, there is almost nothing imaginable that does not pose a challenge to a theologian's profound contemplation. Not surprisingly, theologians work at many levels of society.

School of Catholic Theology

The Tilburg School of Catholic Theology offers a Dutch-taught Bachelor's degree in Theology, a Dutch-taught Master's degree in Theology, an English-taught Master's degree in Christianity and Society and, as of September 2015, a Master's degree Academic Teacher Training in Religion and Philosophy.

The study program in Theology encompasses many disciplines: biblical studies, church history, systematic theology, spirituality, and practical theology. There is an intensive exchange with other disciplines outside of theology, for example philosophy, sociology, psychology, and religious studies. During your studies you will additionally study the languages Latin, Greek, and Hebrew, in order to be able to read the ancient sources and holy books in the original language.

It is also possible to obtain a canonical degree within the School.

Contact

Theology is not boring at all! The study program prepares you for challenging professions and is a combination of many different disciplines with variety between theory and practice.
