Thinking and eating together at the Academic Collaborative Center for Climate and Energy's 'diner pensant'

Published: 19th February 2024 Last updated: 22nd March 2024

During the diner pensant of the Academic Collaborative Center for Climate and Energy on Tuesday, February 6, a question-and-answer session was held in a relaxed and inspiring manner between all collaborative center partners and their administrators, full professors involved, the Executive Board, and the School Deans of Tilburg University.

All stakeholders had the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences regarding the realization of climate and energy goals. Interesting conversations emerged from the meeting, such as, what steps can be taken for energy transition and how the various parties can support each other. The open exchange of thoughts and insights made for an enriching evening and new perspectives.

"We look back on a very successful evening! The conversations at the table were very engaging and inspiring and also converged on a number of key topics, such as the lack of a good narrative. It became abundantly clear that behavior change is the necessary next step for the energy transition to succeed."

Wendy van der Valk - Endowed Professor of Purchasing & Supplier Management and Academic Lead of the Academic Collaborative Center for Climate and Energy

Each course featured not only a meal but also a question, which the attendees discussed together. These questions focused on recent or imminent developments that are important for achieving the 2050 climate and energy goals, the influence of these developments on the collaborative agenda of the Academic Collaborative Center for Climate and Energy, and how the Collaborative Center will work on new priorities and issues in the coming period.

Preceding the courses, reflections on developments in the Collaborative Center over the past period were discussed, such as the formation of the collaboration agenda, meetings organized, and projects started.
