Bio

Christiaan Boonen (1988) studied history at Ghent University, and philosophy at Ghent University (BA) and the University of Amsterdam (MA). He has a PhD in political philosophy from the University of Leuven (RIPPLE) and was a visiting researcher at the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (at Kingston University) in 2018. 

He has published on the following themes: political universalism and its contradictions (in the work of Étienne Balibar); violence and democratization in the radical democratic tradition; rights and emancipation in the Marxist tradition; and property and democracy in the commons-literature.

Currently, he is working on the political philosophy and critical theory of work (with a focus on the philosophy of Herbert Marcuse).
