Bio

Trisha Cruz is a Phd Candidate for the Department of Private, Business and Labor Law at Tilburg Law School (TLS). She is a foreign qualified lawyer with 10 years of experience. Prior to working at TLS, she was a Partner in a Manila Law Firm where she headed the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. 

She obtained her LL.M. and M.A. under the EMLE (European Master in Law and Economics) Program at the University of Vienna and the Erasmus University Rotterdam; and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law.

She is also a coordinator and lecturer under the Joint Bachelor in Data Science involving TiU and Eindhoven University of Technology, for which she received the Best Teacher Award  for the AY 2021-2022.

Expertise

In her early years, she practiced general litigation involving Environmental Law, Family Law (custody, adoption, support, annulments), Estates and Trusts, Contracts, Criminal Law, Commercial Law (banking and foreclosures),  Labor Law, and Tax Litigation. She has appeared before various tribunals, from first level trial courts, to the Supreme Court. Her practice also included local/international Commercial Arbitration. Later on, she transitioned to corporate law practice, where she handled formation of (foreign) companies, corporate housekeeping/advice as retained counsel to large domestic and/or multinational corporations, and M&As, with a focus on legal due diligence. 

Currently, her PhD research focuses on the purported effects of  EU mandatory due diligence rules on the corporate sustainability levels of developing countries - - specifically, on corporations in those countries that form part of the value chains of EU parent companies.
