Associate Professor

TSB: Department of Social Psychology

Bio

My name is Tila Pronk, and I work as an Associate Professor at the department of Social Psychology. My research focusses on love and relationships.

Expertise

I study the many challenges people encounter when navigating their love life in current times. How do singles choose a partner in an online dating environment? How do people maintain and protect an established relationship? The general topic of love and relationships has a great appeal on people outside academia, and I have been in close contact with the media and the general audience since 2011, when my popular press book on romantic relationship (Hartstocht) appeared. I share my insights on social media, often give lectures to the general audience (e.g., Universiteit van Nederland), and regularly appear in radio- and television shows.

Teaching

I teach four Social Psychology courses for Psychology and non-Psychology students (first year BA-level). I am a very passionate and enthusiastic teacher, and find it very rewarding to transfer my knowledge. I have been elected Teacher of the Year of Tilburg University in 2022, after being elected ‘Best Teacher of TSB’ in 2016, 2020 and 2021.

Collaboration

I have many active collaborations with members of the department of social psychology, as well as with members of other departments and faculties of Tilburg University. I also continued my collaborations with researchers at other universities. Apart from collaborations with researchers at the university, I also collaborate with relationship therapists and practitioners.
