Dilemma paper
Practice and theory come together in the Dilemma paper (Referaat). In this assignment, students address a dilemma they have encountered in practice.
The assignment is part of the third year of the Practice Training Assurance. You find more information about the requirements in Informatiegids Praktijkopleiding Assurance and on the website of the NBA (Dutch professional organization for accountants). The Post-Master Accountancy program at Tilburg University offers guidance for the Referaat. We are one of the accounting programs designated by the Committee on End Terms of the Accountancy Education in the Netherlands. Guidance is provided to Referaat groups consisting of 4 to 6 trainees, in three-month periods during the spring and autumn. A Referaat group meets a total of six times during that period, with the participating trainees giving presentations during the last two meetings.
In principle, the Referaat groups meet in an evening group (on Wednesday or Thursday evenings) and/or an afternoon group (on Friday afternoons).
Attendance and Participation
Attendance and participation in all meetings of a Referaat group are mandatory and will be recorded.
To participate in a Referaat group, a trainee must demonstrate at the time of registration to have progressed to the second half of the third year (sixth semester) of the Practice Training Assurance.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is required within a Referaat group. In this regard, we refer to 'Protocol geheimhouding praktijkopleidingen' on the NBA website. Participants in a Referaat group are required to complete, sign, and submit a Verklaring geheimhouding referaat when registering via pmae@tilburguniversity.edu.
Costs
Participation in a Referaat group costs €2,100 based on contract education with a maximum duration of four months from the first meeting of a Referaat group.
Simply register by sending an email to pmae@tilburguniversity.edu with the following attachments:
- Proof that you have progressed to the 6th semester of the practice training at the time of Referaat guidance.
- A completed and signed Verklaring geheimhouding referaat (Referaat Provider is Tilburg University; names of Referaat Supervisors 1 and 2 can be left blank).
- A scan of a valid identification document (not your driver's license).
- A description (maximum 1 to 2 A4 pages) of the dilemma intended to be addressed in the paper.
