Step 4: Start finding an internship on time

Prospective students of the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology must look for a suitable internship prior to the start of the program. However, you can start the Master without an internship place. Nevertheless, we encourage you to keep actively looking for an internship and start as early as possible.

  • For international students who do not speak Dutch, the program offers the possibility to do an internal internship at the Department of Clinical Neuropsychology. In consultation with the internship coordinators, it may be possible to do an external internship abroad. Please, if you would like to do an internship outside the Netherlands send an email to: internship.CNP@tilburguniversity.edu
  • Dutch speaking students are eligible for an external internship in a healthcare organization in the Netherlands, or can choose an internal internship.
  • It is important to start finding an internship, preferably in January, February, and March. To support you during your search, we highly recommend utilizing the following resources:
    • The e-module Internships in the Master Clinical Neuropsychology. In this e-module, you will find important information about the internships and many tips for finding an internship on time. For example, you will find the conditions the internship position must meet and tips on writing a CV and a cover letter.Go to the e-module Internships -  Master Clinical Neuropsychology
    • Online Q&A sessions about the internship in the Master Clinical Neuropsychology. In these sessions, you will have the opportunity to ask any remaining questions you may have about securing an internship position after completing the e-module. For academic year of 2024/2025, these online sessions will take place on the 23rd of January at 13:30 and on the 20th of February at 11:00. To register for one of these sessions, please fill in this form.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How can I best fill out the course list and can I get help with it?

At first sight it may seem difficult to fill out the course list, however it is something you really need to do yourself. Read the points of attention and tips on the course list carefully. It is not possible to get help from us in filling out the course list.

Only by submitting an application for admission to the Master's program will you be able to obtain a definite answer about your admissibility on the basis of your previous education.

How can I qualify for an individual pre-Master's program?

For students who do not completely fulfill the requirements for the Master’s program, there may be the option to get a so-called individual pre-Master's program. However, this is only possible when there are not too many deficiencies in your previous education and the pre-Master’s program does not exceed 60 ECTS.

To get an indication of your potential deficiencies, you can fill out the course list, which you can find at the top of this page under Check your eligibility.

  • In case - on the basis of your completed course list - you think you might be eligible for an individual pre-Master's program (so the subjects to be followed is not greater than 60 ECTS), follow the steps of the application procedure by registering via Studielink. This will set the admission procedure in motion.
  • Based on the information you provide (including a completed course list), your request will be assessed to decide whether you can actually qualify for an individual pre-Master's program.

Note
For students with a Bachelor's degree of a Dutch university of applied sciences (hbo) there is no option to apply for an individual pre-Master's program.

What can I expect after I have registered in Studielink?

With your registration in Studielink you have started the admission procedure.

  • For Tilburg University Bachelor's degree students who are directly eligible (see the Check your eligibility section at the top of this page), it is sufficient to register via Studielink. You will not receive an e-mail or confirmation from the Admission Committee. If you meet all admission requirements, your admission to the master's program will be processed automatically after completion of your Bachelor's program.
  • For all other students, the Admissions Board will assess the application on an individual basis. This means that in most cases you will have to provide additional information regarding your previous education (e.g., a completed list of subjects). You will receive an e-mail from the Admissions Board indicating which documents you have to submit, how and when you have to do so.

Note that if you want to apply with a diploma from a non-Dutch educational institution, including those in Belgium and the Dutch Caribbean, you need to follow the international procedure.

If I apply for admission, do I still have time to think about whether I will actually do this Master's program?

When you submit your request for admission (via registration in Studielink), you are not yet definitively committed to anything.

  • Based on your request, you will eventually receive a decision from the Admissions Committee. If you are admitted, it is up to you to decide whether you will definitely start the Master's program.
  • Only when you - after getting the decision on your eligibility - complete your enrolment in the Master’s program, it will become definite. You still have until the summer (July/early August) to decide whether you will actually start with the Master's program at Tilburg University.
Am I admitted to the Master's program if I have found an internship that has been approved?

No. Searching and finding an internship is independent of the assessment whether you are eligible for the Master's program based on your previous education. Therefore, it is important to ensure that you apply in time for the program, so you know for sure whether your previous education allows you to enroll in the Master's program.

Will I be able to qualify for the BAPD and Verklaring Vooropleiding needed for the LOGO statement?

In order to work as a basic psychologist in the GGZ or Forensic Care after your Master's degree in Psychology and Mental Health (track Clinical Neuropsychology), it is mandatory (as of 1 January 2023) to have a LOGO certificate in addition to your Master's degree. You will also need this LOGO statement if you want to study to become a GZ psychologist or psychotherapist in the Netherlands.

For the LOGO statement, evidence of prior education (Verklaring Vooropleidingseisen) and diagnostics (BAPD aantekening) is required. It is possible to obtain these statements at the end of the Master's program, but only if you meet the requirements, which are not only based on the courses in this Master and an external internship, but also on courses you studied during your Bachelor.  For more information, please go to the page Bewijsstukken voor aanvragen LOGO-Verklaring.

Is there a maximum number of places for the Master Clinical Neuropychology?

No, there is no capacity limit for the external and internal internships of the Master Clinical Neuropychology.
