Donovan van der Haak studied Commercial Economics (BSc) at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and Philosophy (MA, summa cum laude) at Tilburg University. His major research interests revolve around the philosophy of technology, specifically focusing on public values and technomoral change, the transformation of our moral values through technology. Previously, he has also published on topics related to political philosophy, including populism and epistocracy. Currently, he is a PhD-student at the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society, where he investigates how the increasing use of data-driven technologies within local governments may lead to technomoral change, zooming in on the impact of public-private partnerships. As a PhD-student, he is also a young scholar of ALGOSOC, a large research consortium in The Netherlands focused on safeguarding public values in the algorithmic society.
