Borrowing

Your Tilburg University card or library card allows you to borrow library materials.

Collection Tilburg University Card

Approximately two weeks after you have requested your University card, you will receive a  notification in your Tilburg University e-mail account, when your card is ready for collection at the Library. On weekdays, you can pick it up from 8am to 5pm. Please do not forget to bring your ID card or passport when you come to pick up the card.

Extending loan period

  • Extend the loan yourself in WorldCat Discovery via the link Lenerinfo.
  • At the library desk, or by phone or e-mail with Library Support.

Extension is not always possible

  • If the book has been reserved by another borrower.
  • If you have unpaid fines on your library account.
    When the books have been returned and/or the fine has been paid, your account is active again.

Depot request

A large part of the book and journals collection (Vindplaats CBM or CBC and journals from before 2006) are housed in closed depots. These items can be requested by placing a depot request.

AV materials

Tilburg University staff and students can reserve AV materials for teaching and research purposes and events only. There is no charge for this service.

Interlibrary loan (ILL)

Employees and students of TiU can request books and scans of journal articles from other libraries (from home and abroad) via the Interlibrary Loan System (ILL).

Payment

You can only pay by pin at the Library Support Desk and the vending machines at the Study Café require a bank card with contactless payment.

IT Support (for students and staff Tilburg University)

Lockers

Lockers are available in the library (during opening hours only) and work with a (chip) card.   All the lockers open automatically at night. 

So make sure it's empty when you leave the library.

Copy, print and scan

Several multifunctional printers (MFPs) are available in the library.

There are limited printing and copying facilities for visitors.  Please report to the Library Support Desk.

Reference PCs

There are PC's for searching the catalog on all floors of the library. They require no log in. You can use the reference PC's for searching in the catalog and almost all the other library databases.

Study Café

The vending machines for coffee and snacks can be found in the café . The machines accept payment with a contactless bank card. Eating and drinking is only allowed on floor 1.

Study places

The study places (with screens and docking station and pc) can be reserved in LIBCAL

External visitors are not allowed to use the study places or make use of the reservation system. 

Study areas elsewhere on  campus

Wireless

Visitors from other universities can log in to the Eduroam wireless network with their own credentials. Other users can obtain a username and password for the network, by sending a text message. This information is shown on the screens in the library and throughout the campus.
