    • Dr. Jan de Quay (KVP, Catholic People’s Party), former professor of Business Administration and Rector Magnificus in Tilburg, becomes prime minister in De Quay’s cabinet.

  • 1961
    • Establishment of the Tilburg Student Rowing Association Vidar
  • 1962
    • The new Hogeschool building (current Cobbenhagen Building) designed by architect Bedaux was inaugurated in the presence of HM Queen Juliana.
  • 1963
    • Establishment of the Law School and School of Social Sciences; the new name becomes Katholieke Hogeschool Tilburg (KHT).
  • 1964
    • Start of Tilburgs Hogeschoolblad (THB), first as a “glorified announcements magazine,” from 1969 critically independent. THB is the predecessor of Univers.
    • Dr. Max Euwe, world chess champion (winning against Aljechin, from 1935–1937) is appointed full professor of Methodology of Automatic Information Processing and founder of the Rekencentrum (Computing Center) in the basement of the Cobbenhagen Building.

 First mechanical brain in Tilburg

  • 1965
    • Placement of several provisoria, wooden barracks to facilitate the expansion of the institution. Provisoria have a long life on campus: some would remain standing for more than 40 years
  • 1969
    • In February, the text 'Karl Marx University' is painted on the outside wall of building C with red paint, as an expression of protest against what students consider an old-fashioned and authoritarian institution. The first university occupation in the Netherlands.
    • In April, the occupation of the Hogeschool, the first in the Netherlands under Prof. Cees Scheffer as Rector Magnificus with the requirement of "participation of all sections at all levels".
    • University Governance Reform Act (WUB) goes into effect giving students and employees co-determination, at all levels. This is also known as the "council university.”
