    • Name is changed to Tilburg University.
    • Al Gore, former US Vice-President and losing presidential candidate in 2000, receives an honorary doctorate for his environmental achievements.

    • Scientific fraud Prof. Diederik Stapel, Levelt Committee instituted.

  • 2013
    • The monumental Maaskant Building on the Cobbenhagenlaan, formerly an art academy, becomes part of university after renovations. It has since been known as the Academia Building (1972).
  • 2014
    • Jan Hommen (alumnus) becomes Chair of the Foundation Board of Governors, succeeding Lubbers. He will be succeeded in 2019 by mr Hugo Reumkens, alumnus of the university.
    • Prof. Willem Witteveen, legal expert and politician (Senate, PvdA) dies in the attack on the MH-17 plane, along with his wife and daughter.
    • TiasNimbas will be renamed TIAS School for Business and Society.
    • Signing of the Alliance of Brabant in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Máxima.
  • 2015
    • Cobbenhagen Center memorial: unveiling the “old” plaque with, amongst others, Clemens Cobbenhagen, the 91-year-old nephew of Martinus Cobbenhagen, founder of the university.
    • Mathematician and physicist Prof. Emile Aarts succeeds Philip Eijlander as Rector Magnificus.
    • Establishment of the Philip Eijlander Diversity Program with the goal of increasing the number of female full professors.
    • Number of students is 12,400, of which 1,563 are international (Bachelor’s: 6,402, Master’s: 4,588, other: 1,410, with 102 nationalities, staff: 1,514 FTE (of which 890 FTE academic staff), 165 PhD researchers.

  • 2016
    • Queen Maxima opens the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) in the former Mariënburg monastery in 's-Hertogenbosch on December 1. This is an initiative of the universities of Tilburg and Eindhoven, the province of North Brabant and the city of 's-Hertogenbosch.
    • Ernst Hirsch Ballin appointed as the first university professor.
    • Alumna and PhD researcher Rianne Letschert, full professor of International Law and Victimology, becomes Rector Magnificus of Maastricht University.
  • 2017
    • 90th Dies Natalis, including the publication Kleine Encyclopedie van Tilburg University.
    • Launch of the IMPACT valorization program 'Advancing Society', designed to "transform ambivalences, uncertainties, paradoxes, and challenges into opportunities and progress wherever possible."
  • 2018
    Opening CUBE, the first building on campus with spaces exclusively for education.
  • 2019
    • The university has 17,378 students, of which 3,105 are international. There are 71 Bachelor’s & Master’s programs of which 48 are offered in English.
    • The demand for lecture halls is increasing, the Prisma Building is being converted into student housing.
    • Publication Atlas of Tilburg, with a separate chapter devoted to the history and development of the university and campus.
  • 2020
    • Appointment of Prof.  Wim van de Donk as President and Rector Magnificus. He is the second to combine these positions; Prof. Ruud de Moor preceded him.
    • The university is largely closed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Lectures are held online, examinations are administered in a large tent, specially erected for the purpose on the parking lot near the Warandebos. PhD defenses take place, but almost without an audience.
    • The number of students has risen above 19,000. The number of alumni, meanwhile, is over 75,000 (about 6,000 international alumni).
  • 2021
    • Half a century ago, the Psychology sub-faculty was established, now part of TSB. We were the first to depart from the 'soft' image of psychology with experimental research with hard data. Unique research directions were developed such as cultural psychology, educational psychology, psychometrics and recently research on crying and emotions and economic psychology.
    • The University Council also started fifty years ago, called the College ouncil at that time.
    • The congregation Women of Bethany and Tilburg University jointly establish the Women of Bethany Fund with the endowed chair Moral Education. The congregation donates €1,050,000 to the Tilburg University Fund Foundation.

    • Presentation of the university's new strategy 'Weaving Minds and Characters: strategy towards 2027'.
    • Centerdata exists 25 years.
    • Honourable doctorates for e. professor Mary E. Barth, professor Christine Moorman and professor James Gross, conferred during the Dies Natalis.
    • Endowment of the Van Tweel chair for the history of present-day Catholicism.
    • Once again high-ranking position for Tilburg University in the Shanghai Subject Rankings.
    • Historical exposition about 95 years Tilburg University.
    • Honourable doctorate conferred to Mariëtte Hamer during the 95ste Dies Natalis.
    • Law course at Tilburg University hits once again the highest positions in the Netherlands according to THE World University Rankings 2023 by subject.
