07th February 2023Sanita van Wyk attended the GROW (Graduate Research on Worldwide Challenges) kick-off conference as a representative of Tilburg University, and participated in workshops pertaining to the migration-development nexus and energy transition in Africa. GROW is a network of internationally collaborating universities from The Netherlands and the African continent. GROW, together with many other societal partners, develops an international PhD programme that offers tomorrow’s leaders a unique opportunity to do high quality and novel research, related to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Project: Climate Litigation in the Global South - Sanita van Wyk
07th February 2023Climate Litigation in the Global South’ is a GNHRE project, sponsored by the Sabin Centre for Climate Change Law at Columbia Law School, and the Transnational Law Institute at Kings College, London. The project highlights advancements in, and obstacles to, climate litigation in the Global South. Sanita van Wyk will participate as an author in this project, specifically in Round 2, entitled 'The Significance of Climate Litigation for Vulnerable Groups in the Global South.

Migrant workers dare not make a case when labor law problems arise
22nd December 2022Labor migrants especially in the lowest income groups have more frequent labor disputes than the Dutch working population, but do not dare to file formal cases about them for fear of being fired. Those are the main conclusions in the recently published report, which Tilburg University researchers Anna Sobczyk-Turek and Jan Cremers collaborated on for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.
