General questions about Tilburg University

Can I take a virtual tour of the campus?

Absolutely! Tilburg University has a beautiful green campus, modeled after American college campuses. This means that all buildings are within walking distance of each other and a pleasant atmosphere has been created.

Is there a university library where you can study?

The university has a lot of study space all over campus, which can be used by all students. One of those places is the university library. Here you will find quiet study places, group study places and places you can use with your own laptop as well as PCs with two large screens, which you can reserve.

Can I get advice / help during my studies?

Tilburg University supports its students in every possible way with their studies and obtaining their diploma. We do this, for example, regarding your studies, transfer from university to the job market, etc. But we also have advisers and counselors who you may contact in case of personal issues.

Is it usual to have a part time job next to your studies?

Many students have a part time job next to their studies. Not only is this good for your wallet, but you also gain work experience, develop your skills and build your network.

Are there active study associations and student associations in Tilburg?

Tilburg has a large number of associations, including study, student and student sports associations. All associations organize a variety of activities in which you can participate and develop yourself in addition to your studies.

Does Tilburg University offer language courses?

Tilburg University gives each student 2 language vouchers at the start of their studies. With these vouchers you can follow two free language courses at our Language Center.

Does Tilburg University have a student sports center?

Yes, Tilburg University's Sports Center is a few minutes from the campus by bike. You can choose from a wide range of sports: aerobics, spinning, climbing, fitness, relaxation, sports, tennis, squash, gait training, different dance styles, boxing and budo sports, swimming, skating and much more. In the academic year 2019-2020, an annual subscription for Tilburg University students costs € 134.95.

Are the lectures recorded?

At this moment, students are receiving digital education because of the corona-related measures. Some courses are usually recorded as well, but this depends on the type of course and also differs per study program.

In addition to substantive knowledge, do you also acquire skills?

Yes, in every study program at the university you will also aquire academic skills. These include academic writing, analysis, argumentation and critical thinking.

Questions about application and admission

Do I have to prove my English proficiency when I apply to the university?

Since our Bachelor's programs are taught in English, a good verbal and written command of this language is essential. Therefore all applicants must provide proof of their English proficiency. There are several exceptions to this requirement.

Do I have to prove my Maths proficiency when I apply to the university?

Most of our Bachelor's programs ask for a proof of your maths proficiency during your application process. The level of maths is dependent on the program you are applying to. If you are unsure whether you meet the level required, we advise you to submit an application to the program. The admissions officer can check whether you are admissible, and can also tell you what you can do to work on this.

Does Tilburg University have an application fee?

No, Tilburg University does not have an application fee. This means that the application process is free of charge.

What is the amount of tuition fee at Tilburg University?

The tuition fees are dependent on your personal situation, for example the program you are applying to and whether you have already completed an educational program in The Netherlands.

Practical questions about the start of your program

Does Tilburg University help with housing?

Tilburg University does not own its own housing, but we do help international students find housing. We have a housing officer, who can offer support if needed.

What are the consequences of the corona-related measures for my application and the start of my education in the upcoming academic year?

We strive to offer our students the same quality of education as usual in the coming academic year. If new developments regarding the coronavirus have an impact on your application or (the start of) the program, we will inform you.

What does the start of the first year look like?

The introduction week (TOP Week) takes place just before the start of the academic year. Is not mandatory, but it is a nice way to get to know your fellow students, study program and the city of Tilburg! In addition, each study program has a substantive program introduction where you, for example, receive practical information about registering for courses, buying books, etc.

Due to the coronacrisis, TOP Week 2020 will take place in an alternative form from 24 till 28 August.
Updates will be posted on the TOP Week socials and website.
