What is online education like?

Online education, also known as hybrid teaching, distance or remote learning is a way of teaching where you take a full-time Master's program online from wherever you want. This approach to education has many pros, such as flexibility, accessibility and the possibility to study in any location. This means you can choose to take the program online or on-campus! Tilburg University offers online and on-campus education in the areas of Business Law, Taxation and Law & Technology.

How does it work?

In the online Master's program, tools and methods are used and combined to create an inclusive learning environment where you collaborate and learn with online and on-campus fellow students. Tools that are used to this effect include:

  1. Video conference tools: with Zoom and Microsoft Teams, you will attend lectures and classes in real-time with much interaction. This will enable online students to participate in classes actively.
  2. Digital learning environment: The digital learning environment Canvas is used to promote involvement and coordination between students and teachers.
  3. Community building activities: Activities are organized to strengthen the sense of belonging, cooperation and involvement within the program.
Important characteristics

The program is structured so that all students (online and on-campus) collaborate and learn together. A few important ground rules are kept in mind for this:

  • All exams are organized online, including for students who take the program on-campus.
  • Online lectures and exams are scheduled in the Central European (Summer) Timezone.
  • Most lectures take place on campus and online simultaneously.
  • The program structure for each online Master's is different. Always check the program page for the Master's program of your choice for specifics.
